Case 01 — Foil that survived a deep deboss
The brand's mark had to sit in gold foil at the bottom of a 1.2 mm deboss — our maximum on greyboard. Our first trials cracked the foil along the shoulder of the deboss every time.
We changed two things: the board lay-up, so the greyboard compressed evenly instead of shearing, and the shoulder angle on the brass die, cut back from 45° to 30°. The third trial held. The client approved from the production sample without a site visit.
